Saccidananda Ashram, Narsinghpur

Saccidananda Ashram is a venture for building a new society sharing the values of the Gospel with the people of diverse cultures and religions, exploring new avenues in dialogue and inculturation. The idea of this Ashram originated in the mind of Bishop Rt. Rev. Dr. Leobard D'Souza and the Missionary Council of Jabalpur Diocese. Fr. Premanand O'praem was very much inspired by this idea and started it in the year 1971. He left this place in the year 1985 for leading a life of Sadhu. In the year 1986 this Ashram was entrusted to the Sanyasis of Santivanam, Tamilnadu and Swami Amaldas was sent here as an Acharya. Due to the untimely demise of Swami Amaldas, in the year 1990 the Ashram became rudderless again. Rt. Rev. Dr. Theophane O'praem, the Bishop of Jabalpur approached CMI St. Paul Province, Bhopal for taking up this Ashram in the year 1991. The edifying presence and ministry of Swami Sadanand was remarkable in the subsequent history of Ashram. He gave a new spiritual and social appeal to this Ashram by his simplicity and charismatic life style. Now a new face of spirituality is being unfolded under the guidance of Acharya Fr. Anto Mundanmany. Ashram continues its evangelization by promoting Contemplation, Simple Living, Religious Harmony and Peace Mission, Healing Ministry, Parish Animation etc.
