Rural Development Service Society (RDSS) came into existence as a result of a resolution taken and signed by Rt. Rev. Dr. Clemens Thottungal CMI, the then Bishop of Sagar and Rev. Fr. George Honorius the then CMI Regional Superior and Mr. C. M. Antony, the then President of KESS on March 19, 1979. RDSS was registered as a Charitable Organization on February 11, 1980. For the above joint venture, the personnel (Fathers) were regularly provided by St. Paul Region and later St. Paul Province, Bhopal. At present, the Fathers working in RDSS render spiritual assistance to two Centres namely: Silwani and Siermau. The CMI Fathers also assist in the daily social activities of Silwani Centre in various capacities. Presently RDSS focuses mainly on running Hostels for Tribal Children, SHGs, Multi Skill Training Programmes, Dispensaries, Home for the Aged, Pre-school Empowering Projects, Career Coaching Classes etc. 2020 marked an important milestone in the 41 years of the existence of RDSS, as the administrative setup of RDSS was totally revamped and a new work culture was being evolved, with the CMI St. Paul Province Bhopal, focussing its work on the RDSS Main Centre at Silwani, whereas, all other Sub Centres are entrusted to the care and mentoring of the partner Religious Congregations and Diocese.
